Up Down
by Tricia
“Updown” - that's jumping in Madelyn speak. And boy did she get to do a lot of updown this week! My friend, Linnea, found a place called Pump It Up that houses several different bounce house structures, including a giant slide. We took Madelyn and Owen to their morning play time for pre-schoolers. They loved it! Madelyn was a little unsure at first about the unsteadiness of running around on the inflatables, but she caught onto it after the first half hour and was a professional jumper by the end. As a bonus, Pump it Up is only 5 minutes away from Troy's work – so he got to see some of the updown:
This weekend brought a variation on our updown trend when we went to the Salem waterfront to try out the carousel again. When we first tried a carousel ride last month, Madelyn wouldn't get on the horses and instead opted to ride in the stationary wagon behind one of the horses. This time, to our surprise, she picked out one of the biggest horses and climbed on! The whole time she rode, she proudly proclaimed “updown” as the horse went up and down, up and down. . .
We finished the afternoon with lunch at Casey's Cafe, where Madelyn got some of her favorite food – hot dog and french fries! She also got to groove to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. I was trying to figure out a way to classify this as updown – but it was really more side to side action and pretty darn spontaneous cuteness:
